Packers and Movers in India

Packers and movers in India handle thousands of household, office and vehicle moves every year, and DTC Express has been doing this work since 2009. What began as a four-person transport team has since grown into one of the most trusted names in relocation services in India, now serving 30+ cities across every region of the country. Yet no two moves are alike, because shifting between floors in the same building is a different job from relocating a family across the country, and sending a car ahead while the household goods follow by road is different again. Beyond that, distance, traffic and years of furniture can turn a quick weekend job into weeks of stress. That is why good planning matters as much as moving day. At DTC Express, that planning begins before a single box is packed. Every move starts with a free pre-move survey and a written, itemised quote, and it ends with a GST invoice and an optional transit insurance policy. There are no middlemen and no surprise charges, just one team that surveys, packs, loads, drives and delivers. Because one team handles every step, the people who survey your home are the same ones who deliver to the new one. That kind of continuity is what sets the best packers and movers apart from those who only carry boxes. Our moving services cover household shifting between cities, local moves within a city, office relocation, car and bike transport, warehousing and international moves. So whether you are moving across town or across the country, call us, get a written quote and move without worry.

That directness is a big reason people count us among the leading packers and movers in India. Reputation here rests on paperwork rather than slogans. Every quote is written and itemised, with packing materials, labour, vehicle, floor or lift charges, insurance and GST listed line by line. The price on the quote is the price you pay, unless your inventory, date or addresses change after signing, and that is the standard we hold ourselves to as a reputed packers and movers in India.

We are also GST-registered, so you receive a proper tax invoice for every move. That matters for corporate clients claiming HRA or relocation reimbursement, and for anyone submitting a transit insurance claim. It is why many customers look for trusted packers and movers in India who put everything in writing.

With that foundation in place, here is everything we can do for you.

What changes the price of a move

Volume of goods

More items need a bigger truck and more crew. A survey measures this properly; home size alone is only a starting point.

Distance and route

Fuel, tolls and driver days rise with distance. Hill and North-East routes cost more per kilometre.

Date

Weekends, the last week of the month and April–June are busiest. A mid-month weekday is usually cheapest.

Floors and access

Stairs without a lift, long carries from the parking and narrow lanes add labour time.

Dedicated or shared truck

A dedicated truck is faster and direct. A shared load is cheaper but takes longer to arrive.

Insurance and extras

Transit insurance, storage, car transport and appliance installation are priced separately on the quote.

Packers and movers in 30+ Indian cities

Choose your city for local prices, the areas we cover and moving tips for that city.

Delhi NCR – our home base

Our head office is in Dwarka, New Delhi. Most of our crews and trucks are based in NCR, so moves that start or end here can often be booked for the next day.

Packers and movers in Delhi

Delhi areas: South Delhi, West Delhi, North Delhi, East Delhi, Central Delhi, Dwarka, Rohini

Haryana, Punjab & Chandigarh

Moves from NCR into Haryana towns are usually completed in a day.

North & Central India

Regular moves between NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

West & South India

Metro-to-metro moves for families and employees relocating for work.

East & North-East India

Long-distance moves with packing built for longer transit and humid weather.

Why choose DTC Express packers and movers

The four things that most often go wrong in a move, and how we handle each of them.

DTC Express packers and movers team at work

One company from quote to delivery

DTC Express is a moving company, not a listing site. The team that surveys your home is the team that packs and moves it, and one coordinator stays with you from booking to delivery. Your phone number is not passed to other vendors.

See our crews at work
DTC Express written moving quote and GST invoice

A written, itemised quote, and the price holds

Your quote lists the truck size, crew size, packing materials, floor or lift charges, insurance and taxes. If your inventory and dates stay the same, the price on moving day is the price on the quote. You get a GST invoice for every move.

See typical charges
DTC Express crew packing household items with bubble wrap and cartons

Packing matched to each item

Glassware gets bubble wrap and dividers, TVs get foam corners and a rigid carton, sofas get stretch film and blankets, and wardrobe clothes travel on hangers in wardrobe boxes. Every carton is numbered against the inventory list.

Tracking while it moves, a claim process if something breaks

You can check where your consignment is using its tracking number. If an item is damaged, you note it on the delivery receipt and raise a claim with us directly; you are not passed between a platform and a vendor.

Track a consignment   Insurance coverage

Direct mover, marketplace or local truck: what is the difference?

When you search for packers and movers, you will find three kinds of options. Here is what each one usually means for you.

What you get DTC Express (direct mover) Lead marketplace Unregistered local mover
Who packs and moves your goods Our own crew A vendor from their list The person you called
Who gets your phone number Only DTC Express Often several vendors One person
Written itemised quote Always Depends on vendor Rarely
GST invoice Yes Depends on vendor Usually not
Transit insurance Optional, on declared value Depends on vendor Usually not
Consignment tracking Yes Varies No
Who handles a damage claim DTC Express, directly You and the vendor Often no process

How your move works, step by step

The same six steps for a one-room local move or a 4 BHK move across the country.

  1. Tell us about your move

Use the quote form, call or WhatsApp us with your cities, home size and preferred date.

  2. Free survey at home or on video

Our surveyor lists every item, checks floors, lift and parking, and notes anything fragile or oversized.

  3. Written, itemised quote

Usually the same day. It shows the truck, crew, materials, insurance and taxes. You confirm the date with a booking amount.

  4. Packing and loading

The crew packs room by room, numbers each carton and loads the truck. You sign the inventory and receive the consignment note.

  5. Transport and tracking

Your goods travel in a closed truck. Use your consignment number to track them, and your coordinator shares updates.

  6. Delivery and setup

We unload, unpack, reassemble furniture and place items room by room. You check everything against the inventory before signing.

What is included in a DTC Express quote

Anything that is not in the left column is listed as a separate line on your quote, so nothing is added later.

Included in every home move

Packing materials

Cartons, bubble wrap, foam, stretch film, tape and furniture blankets.

Trained crew

Packing, loading, unloading and unpacking by the same team.

Closed truck transport

Sized to your inventory, with padding and lashing inside.

Furniture dismantling and reassembly

Beds, wardrobes and dining tables that need it.

Paperwork

Inventory list, consignment note with tracking number, and GST invoice.

Priced separately, only if you need it

Transit insurance

Premium based on the declared value of your goods.

Appliance installation

AC, geyser, chimney and TV wall mounting by an electrician.

Car or bike transport

Added to the same booking or booked on its own.

Storage

Charged per month for goods held between homes.

Items we cannot carry

Filled gas cylinders, fuel, firearms, perishable food and plants. Carry cash, jewellery and documents yourself.

Transit insurance and damage claims

Careful packing prevents most damage. Insurance and a clear claim process cover the rest.

Transit insurance

You can insure your goods for the journey. The premium depends on the value you declare, so list your goods at their real value. The policy terms, including what is covered, are shared with your quote.

If something is damaged

  1. Write the damage on the delivery receipt before you sign it.
  2. Take photos of the item and its packing.
  3. Submit the claim with photos and your invoice.
Raise a claim

How we prevent damage

Fragile cartons are marked and loaded last, heavy furniture is loaded first and lashed to the truck walls, and every carton is checked off the inventory at both ends.

Our packing process

Which truck size do you need?

A rough guide. The survey decides the final truck, because two 2 BHK homes can hold very different amounts.

Vehicle Usually suits Good for
Mini truck (Tata Ace type) A few items, 1 RK Local moves, single rooms
14 ft truck 1 BHK Local and short intercity moves
17 ft truck 2 BHK Most intercity family moves
19–20 ft truck 3 BHK Larger homes with more furniture
22–24 ft truck or container 4 BHK, villa or office Large homes, offices, long distances
Car carrier Cars Intercity car transport

Best time to move in India

Demand rises and falls through the year. Booking outside the busy weeks saves money and gives you more choice of dates.

January to March

Quieter months

Good availability and prices outside month-end. Winter fog in North India can slow road transit in January.

April to June

Peak season

School admissions and job transfers push demand up. Book three to four weeks ahead.

July to September

Monsoon

Fewer moves, but rain delays are common on coastal and North-East routes. Waterproof packing matters most now.

October to December

Festive season

Dates around Navratri and Diwali fill fast. Mid-November onwards is usually calmer.

Moving checklist and documents

What to do and when, from four weeks before your move to the day your goods arrive.

4 weeks before

  • Compare two or three written quotes and book your date.
  • Start clearing out things you will not move.
  • Tell your employer and your children's school.

2 weeks before

  • Inform both housing societies and book lifts and parking.
  • Update your address with your bank, gas, broadband and Aadhaar.
  • Start using up frozen and open food.

1 week before

  • Set aside documents, jewellery and medicines to carry yourself.
  • Photograph the cables behind your TV and computer.
  • Confirm the date and truck with your coordinator.

1 day before

  • Defrost and dry the fridge; drain the washing machine.
  • Pack an essentials bag: chargers, clothes, toiletries.

Moving day

  • Walk through each room with the supervisor.
  • Check and sign the inventory; keep the consignment note and tracking number.

Delivery day

  • Check cartons against the inventory before you sign.
  • Note any damage on the receipt and ask for furniture to be reassembled.

Documents for a household move

  • Photo ID and address proof
  • Inventory list and consignment note
  • Written quote and GST invoice
  • Insurance policy, if you took one

Documents for car or bike transport

  • Registration certificate (RC)
  • Valid vehicle insurance and PUC
  • Owner's photo ID

Household goods moved for personal use are not a sale, so an e-way bill is usually not needed; a self-declaration with the packing list helps at state checkposts. If you keep a vehicle in another state for more than a year, check re-registration rules with the local RTO.

How to choose packers and movers you can trust

Six checks that separate a real moving company from a phone number, whoever you book.

A registered office and GST number

A company with an address you can visit, not just a mobile number.

A survey before the price

A quote given without seeing your goods is a guess that tends to grow on moving day.

A written, itemised quote

Truck, crew, materials, floors, insurance and taxes, each listed.

A consignment note at pickup

It should carry the company name, your inventory and a tracking number.

Insurance and claims in writing

Ask how a claim is raised and who settles it before you book.

Recent, specific reviews

Look for reviews that mention routes and dates, not just stars.

Red flags to watch for

  • A phone quote far below every other quote
  • Full payment asked for before loading
  • No GST invoice, or a company name that changes on paperwork
  • Refusal to share the truck number or the driver's contact
  • A name that copies a known brand but uses a different phone number or website

Check that you are talking to DTC Express

  • Official numbers: +91-97115-46001 and +91-93111-93119

Frequently asked questions about packers and movers

Answers to what customers ask most before they book a move within India.

Prices & payment

How much do packers and movers charge in India?

A local move within the same city usually costs ₹3,000–₹8,000 for a 1 BHK and ₹9,000–₹18,000 for a 2 BHK. Intercity moves start around ₹16,000 for a 1 BHK over short distances and can reach ₹50,000 or more for a 2 BHK across the country. The price depends on the volume of goods, distance, floors and date. See the price guide above for every home size.

Why do weekend and month-end moves cost more?

Most rental agreements end in the last week of the month, and most people prefer to move on weekends, so trucks and crews are booked out. Moving on a weekday in the middle of the month is usually cheaper and gives you more choice of time slots.

Are there any hidden charges?

No. Everything is listed on the written quote: packing materials, labour, truck, floor or lift charges, insurance and GST. The price only changes if your inventory, addresses or date change after the quote.

Do I have to pay the full amount in advance?

No. You pay a booking amount to confirm your date, and the balance as set out on your quote. Be careful with any mover that asks for the full amount before loading your goods.

How can I reduce the cost of my move?

Sell or donate things you will not use, move mid-month on a weekday, book two to three weeks ahead, and choose a shared truck if you are not in a hurry. Packing some non-fragile items yourself can also lower the labour cost.

Booking & process

How far in advance should I book packers and movers?

Book 7–15 days ahead for a normal move, and three to four weeks ahead for month-end dates, weekends or April to June. Urgent same-day or next-day moves are possible when a truck and crew are free.

Is a pre-move survey necessary?

It is the only way to get a price that holds on moving day. Our survey is free and can be done at your home or on a video call in about 20 minutes.

How long does an intercity move take?

Up to 500 km usually takes 1–2 days, 500–1,000 km takes 2–4 days, 1,000–1,500 km takes 3–5 days, and longer distances take 4–7 days. A dedicated truck is faster than a shared load.

Can I move only a few items?

Yes. For a few items, such as a fridge, a bed and some cartons, we send a smaller vehicle and a smaller crew, so you only pay for what you move.

Will you dismantle and reassemble furniture?

Yes. Dismantling and reassembly of beds, wardrobes and dining tables is included in every home move.

Can I track my goods during the move?

Yes. You get a consignment number at pickup. Enter it on our tracking page to check the status, or ask your coordinator for an update.

Insurance & safety

Do you provide transit insurance?

Yes, as an option on every move. The premium is based on the value you declare for your goods, and the policy terms are shared with your quote. Read more about insurance coverage.

What happens if something is damaged?

Note the damage on the delivery receipt before signing, take photos of the item and its packing, and submit a claim with your invoice through our claim page. You deal with DTC Express directly throughout.

Which items will packers and movers not carry?

Filled gas cylinders, petrol or diesel, firearms, chemicals, perishable food and plants. Carry cash, jewellery, important documents and daily medicines with you.

How do I check that a packers and movers company is genuine?

Check for a registered office, a GST number on the quote, a written itemised quote after a survey, and a consignment note with the company name at pickup. Search the exact company name and phone number, because some operators copy the names of known brands.

Car & bike

How much does car transport cost?

Intercity car transport usually costs ₹9,000–₹27,000 for a hatchback or sedan depending on distance, and a little more for an SUV. Bikes cost ₹3,500–₹12,000. See car transport for details.

What documents are needed to transport a car or bike?

The registration certificate (RC), valid insurance, a PUC certificate and the owner's photo ID. Remove valuables and loose accessories and keep the fuel low before handover.

Can my bike go in the same truck as my household goods?

Yes. The bike is wrapped, loaded and secured separately inside the same truck, which is usually cheaper than sending it on its own. See bike transport.

Cities & services

Which cities do you serve?

We are based in Delhi and serve 30+ cities, including all of Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow and Chandigarh. See all locations.

Is DTC Express a direct mover or a broker?

A direct mover. Your move is surveyed, packed and transported by DTC Express teams, and your details are not passed to other vendors.

Do you move offices?

Yes. We plan office moves around working hours, label IT equipment by desk and can move overnight or at weekends. See office shifting.

Do you offer storage?

Yes, short-term and long-term storage for household and business goods, with pickup and delivery. See warehousing and storage.

Do you handle international moves?

Yes. We pack to export standard, help with customs paperwork and ship by sea or air through partners abroad. See international relocation.
